Real Men Don’t Diet

Although men of all ages are becoming more health and body conscious, they really don’t refer to weight loss regimes as dieting. Dieting has long been a girl thing, and men certainly don’t want to enter that realm. Real men don’t go on diets; they tend to opt for workout plans and healthier food options.

In truth, men encounter has many health risks from poor eating and no exercise as do women. Bad fad diets only add to the health risks for both genders. Men have a tendency to start workout programs and ingest more muscle enhancing supplements such as anabolic steroids. Their goal is to feel strong and masculine.

Men do not find it easy to start a diet and usually will not adhere to one for any length of time. Dieting is a territory reserved for women. You won’t find many men talking to their buddies about their new diet plan. One of the biggest concerns men have about diet plans and dieting is that they will loose muscle along with fat. A better approach for them is to start a healthier full lifestyle change.

So the question remains, how do you get men to become more health conscious? Men become more interested in the food they are consuming by becoming more interested in fitness. The most popular exercise regimes include bodybuilding workouts which increases energy, and stamina. Men are attracted to diet plans that promise to make them better in their chosen sport and in the bedroom. Again, the focus is on stamina and increased energy.

The most popular diet plan amongst men is the Atkins diet because eating a big juicy steak is much more masculine than eating a dainty piece of chicken or fish. But in reality the steak is not the healthier choice. And if they do resolve to eat poultry or fish it usually must be accompanied by a sauce or heavy marinade which contradicts the point of eating it in the first place. Plus many health care professionals continue to be concerned about the high levels of saturated fat and protein that these type of diets contain.

Real men may not diet, but they should be aware of the health risks associated with improper nutrition programs. A balanced intake of a variety of healthy foods is always the best rule to follow for both men and women.
